National League Zug

An unpleasant première.

The season opener in Zug was a big disappointment.

We both got our first DNF (Did Not Finish) of our careers. Not because we gave up the race but because we did not qualify for the final and got eliminated out of the race after 2 laps.

This level of racing does not allow mistakes, tardy transitions or moments of inattention. Competitions are there to push boundaries. We prepare for months only for a few opportunities of racing. Sometimes, we achieve an exploit, sometimes unfortunately nothing at all.

Saturday's result doesn't reflect what we can and want to show.
But if you take a lot of risks, you have to accept the consequences. And nobody wants to hear excuses or explanations. It wasn’t fast enough and that’s the hard truth. Finally it doesn’t matter what you did in training, but what you showed when it mattered most.

Nevertheless, the support in the days leading up to the race, on raceday itself and also after the finishline was huge. A big thank you for that!

Now it’s time to regain focus.
Round two of the league follows on Sunday - there's a lot to make up for and we’ll give everything we’ve got to show a better performance.
