about snow on the beach
In life you’ll cross paths with many people. Some will only be there for a certain time, others are meant to stay.
Some meets go far beyond brief interactions. They serve purpose.
A handful of people teach you lessons and sharp who you are. Those encounters are rare, yet incredibly beautiful. Similar to snow falling on the beach. And when it happens, you’ll know.
We were blessed with a few meets of this kind. Some of them happened during our time training and living in Australia. We met people who have their hearts in the right place.
Staying in contact despite the distance between us is challenging. It takes effort and time to hold phone calls that go above small talk, but it pays off. Knowing that your friends are always just one phone call away matters. So much more than having a huge number of them.
Keeping that in mind, you will understand the significance behind the visit of our Australian best friend and her cousin. Having them both choose Switzerland as the destination of their first big overseas trip proves that some encounters leave a deeper impact.
Between people sharing farewell tears, our „welcome girls“ sign clearly stood out at the Zurich airport. Picking up your loved ones will and should always be something special. Our reunion felt special. So did the snow falling from the sky just as we’ve arrived in our hometown.
Time seemed to stand still whilst two of us experienced their first snowfall. It was nothing else but an unremarkably Monday for many, not for the four of us; giggling and breathing out into the cold air carefree.
The tables had turned. During this week it was finally our time to show our friends around. This time we weren’t the foreigners. It was on us to bring some of the stories we used to tell them to life. The week was filled with many first times. Wobbling over the ice when trying ice skating, trolling around in snow, wandering through old-towns of Lucerne, Montreux, Bern or Zug.
Somewhere between lonely mountain villages and crowded touristic hotspots we created core memories. Without even realizing.
Out of all the people - what were the chances - and still we met. The snow on the beach comparison actually comes from the pen of a pop star that few of you might now. The girl we dedicate this text to, surely does.
Thank you for the unforgettable time girls. Have a safe trip home and kiss the ground down under for us.
